My first passion is art, my second, opera and music. I paint for the love of it. I paint because I am fascinated by nature in general and the human form in particular. The shapes of the figure and the face are irresistible to me. To capture them and put them down on paper or canvas is a continual challenge. I draw inspiration from my models, the music I listen to while I paint – Mozart in particular – and my surroundings.  I enjoy painting in all mediums, but find oils to be the most compelling, and challenging. The aim of my striving is to capture mood, a likeness, the colour and essence of the moment.

I studied art under the direction of Ryno Swart (oils and pastels), Maureen Langley (sculpture) and Derric van Rensburg (watercolours). I recently held a successful solo exhibition of my works at the Cape Gallery, Cape Town.  I have taken part in joint exhibitions and sold paintings at various galleries as well as privately. Some of my works are hanging in private homes in America, Australia, England and Poland.

‘We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started. And to know the place for the first time.’

(T.S. Eliot)
